Sandra Bullock performs in Nashville

Author: blake | Filed under: Awards

Over the weekend was Canada’s MUCH Music Awards’ Show. It had a large amount of performers there, but one of the stand outs was Miley Cyrus due to her costumes. The question has been raised lately if stars who are under the age of 18 should wear such revealing material that could have dramatic effects if there is a wardrobe malfunction. This was brought up mainly now after Perez Hilton posted a vadge shot of Miley Cyrus on his blog. There is now a large wave of viruses out claiming to be the picture, but actually is a virus.

Cyrus is currently 17, but nearly exposed her self in her costume at MUCH Music. The costume was said to be pretty camel-toe viewing at the award show. Miley had two performance which I have posted. The girl needs to watch it if she wants to keep a great reputation with her young lil kid fans. It will be any time now she will be pulling a Britney or something.

MTV Movie Award Nominees

Ryan Oneil
During the recent Oscar ceremony, they had the In Memory section which gave moments of silence to the fallen stars of 2009. Some of the familiar faces we saw were Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson, and Brittany Murphy. Few big names they forgot were Bea Arthur of the Golden Girls, Ed McMahon, and Farrah Fawcett. I can understand that the Academy has to limit the search down, but some of these people should have been in it. Bea Arthur and Ed McMahon are questionable since they are more notable for tv. Farrah has done movies and had an amazing documentary during her death.

Ryan O’Neil stated that Farrah’s omission “a terrible decision” and “very hurtful.” Fawcett was after all a long time member of the Academy. Here is O’Neil’s interview with Radar Online:

“It was a terrible decision and very hurtful,” O’Neal said. “Farrah was a member of the Academy for over 40 years and we could not believe she did not get a mention.” Patrick Swayze, Michael Jackson and Brittany Murphy were included in the segment.

O’Neal also revealed that he and daughter Tatum O’Neal- who watched the ceremony together- intend to write a letter of protest.

“Both Tatum and I were very upset and we intend to write a letter to the Academy to try and get an explanation for this oversight on their behalf.”

RadarOnline.com spoke to Lesle Unger, a rep for the Academy, shortly after the awards ended. She explained that “there are many angles that are looked at as to who to include and unfortunately we don’t include everyone.”

Bruce Davis, the executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said days before that the segment was the most difficult to produce since they had to whittle over a hundred names down to around thirty.

O’Neal scoffed at the notion that Fawcett would not make that final cut: “They gave mentions to sound guys and other writers and without being disrespectful, Farrah Fawcett was an icon and a household name.

“Quite frankly, we were stunned at the decision not to include her in the tribute and I feel that the Academy should be scolded for that, everyone was shocked.”

Many celebrities were surprised that Fawcett was omitted from the memorial tribute. Stars believe that the Academy will never apologize for their mistake.

Sean Penn
During the Oscars Sunday night, Sean Penn presented the Best Actress Oscar. He made a comment during his presentation where he said,”I never became an official member of the academy, but the academy and I do have in common that we neglected to acknowledge the same actress in our own ways two years running.” It is believed he was referring to his ex-wife, Robin Wright. Wright was just in the film The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, and I guess he believed she should have been nominated. I have not seen this film, but I have heard it was terribly boring.

Later that night, Penn confronted Wright’s new boyfriend, Greg Shapiro. Shapiro is one of the producers of Oscar winning(but not deserving), “Hurt Locker.” It was reported that Sean Penn was then uninvited from the Governor’s Ball due to his confrontation with Shapiro backstage. Penn’s reps deny this and said Penn decided just not to show up. Unfortunately, I do not believe Penn’s reps. Last week Penn wished all his “haters” to have rectal cancer. Penn does have an attitude, but I still love this guy. He is a trip.

    Stewart and Lautner
Last night the Oscar’s tried to pay tribute to Horror Films. It unfortunately ended up a little bit of an insult to me at one point. I started to get weary at the get go when they had Twilight stars, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, come out and present this tribute. I am thinking what are these two people doing paying tribute to horror films. In the midst of all the tribute the Oscars did pay tribute to a lot of Horror greats, but I believe they had their genres mixed up.

The tribute started off with Jaws and included classics the Dracula, Frankenstein, Birds, Psycho, etc. It also featured our favorite 80 horror films like Nightmare on Elm St., Child’s Play, Friday the 13th, Halloween, etc. It then started to mix in some mystery and suspense movies in there too, which I would not categorize as horror films. One Part that completely insulted me was when they included the film Twilight as a horror. Excuse me!! Twilight is now a horror, it is a children’s fantasy movie.

It made it all clear now why the Oscar’s had Stewart and Lautner present, as they were stupid enough to say that “Twilight” is a horror. You just kicked all those movies in the junk by even putting Twilight in the same league as them. There were a few other films that were more fantasy than horror in the category too, but this was by far the biggest blow.

    Oscar insults Horror Films

    Kathryn Bigelow
As we all expected Hurt Locker took home the big prize over throwing the amazing “Avatar” film. Now the big question I ask, “Does the film deserve it?” In my opinion the film deserved some of it’s rewards, but not the biggest two. Hurt Locker took home six Oscars last night. I agreed with almost all the choices that the Oscars made, besides four Oscars that went to Hurt Locker. I do not believe they should have received “Best Picture”,”Best Director”, “Best Sound Mixing”, and “Best Sound.”

So why do I not believe this film was worthy? First, the film was very inaccurate and insulted a lot of us who have been over there. I never saw anyone drinking and getting drunk over there then going to work. It is unlawful to have alcohol at any of the bases in the middle east. Second, I have spoken to a few of my EOD friends and they do not do all the raiding of houses and so on. When they actually do work, they are escorted to the bomb site by infantry men, and then will work on the bomb. There are many more inaccuracies, but I am not spending this entire post on that.

Just think about it, twenty to thirty years down the road, what film will you remember? Avatar I believe deserved “Best Picture and Best Director.” James Cameron came up with the vision of Avatar and the whole concept of it. Some one else wrote and came up with the idea for “Hurt Locker.” Katheryn Bigelow just had to sit behind the camera and give direction. Avatar deserved “Best Picture” because it will be remembered, while Hurt Locker was a boring film and will be forgotten. Avatar’s technology and film making were revolutionary and we are already seeing that now. The film will be known as a turning point for the new 3d films that will be coming for the next several years.

Anyways, all the awards are political. Hurt Locker campaigned more for their film while Avatar did not. We all know how well Avatar is doing, and to me they are the winner in the long run. I mean Star Wars and E.T. lost too, but they are all remembered.

    Michael J Fox
I just love Michael J. Fox and all that he has done for people. Mr. Fox is now going to be called Dr. Fox. Sweden’s Karolinksa Institute is set to give Michael J Fox an honory doctorate. He will get the degree at a ceremony in New York. Fox launched the Michael J Fox Foundation after he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1991.

Michael J. Fox said,”I’m grateful to the Board of Research and to the Karolinska Institute for this tremendous honor,” Fox said. “It is especially meaningful because our Foundation and the Karolinska Institute share a belief in the power of scientific endeavor to create a future that is better for everyone, and a commitment to act strategically—even unconventionally—to help bring that future closer.”
