Last night was the 2012 Critics’ Choice Awards. The two films that stood out were “The Help” and “The Artist”. So check out the winners. I will put besides each one Culture’s Slants choices of who should of won. No politics involved in my choices.

Katy Perry decides not to go to People’s Choice

Katy Perry has now announced she is not attending People’s Choice. Perry was nominated for six awards and will be a no show now. The show airs tomorrow and was suppose to be Katy Perry’s first appearance after her announced divorce from Russell Brand. Brand himself was told not to come by the award show. It makes me wonder if Katy didn’t feel that was right and decided not to come herself.

Ed O’Neill gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

About time Ed O’Neill will be getting a Hollywood star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He had both his current tv wife and his past tv wife accompany him.

Sofia Vergara shared, “When I was in Colombia and I was a young, very beautiful girl, I would watch Married… With Children, with Ed with his hand in his pants, talking with this very sexy Antonio Banderas accent—because in Colombia it was dubbed into Spanish.”

“I want to tell Eddie, he’s one lucky mo-fo,” Katey Sagal chimmed in, who we all grew and love as Peggy Bundy. “Here he’s got these two beautiful women that he’s had in his life, hopefully this one as long as he’s had me,” she added, gesturing toward Vergara. “And I’m sure he will.”

Ed O’Neil responded back, “As I’m standing here, it’s a bit emotional. I can’t help thinking that somewhere in the world, at this moment in a hospital, a beautiful little baby girl is being born. And when she grows up she’s going to be my next wife on TV, and I look forward to that day.”

O’Neil was a school teacher in Ohio and then got into acting. He was taught in an area close to where I grew up, so I enjoyed hearing about his story and how he became famous. I am glad to see that he has now received his star.

VMA News and Winners

So a quick rundown of MTV’s VMA’s last night. The main tribute was to Britney Spears, don’t ask me why she deserves a tribute over other classic stars because she doesn’t. I think if you give Britney a tribute in roughly 20 years, then ya it is worth it.

Next up was the awkward moment between Britney and Lady Gaga. Gaga was dressed up as her manly costume and tried to give Britney a kiss, and Gaga got rejected.

Anyways, the whole show was outdone by Beyonce’s news of her pregnancy. So at the end of the night we could of skipped the whole VMA’s and just had a tape of Beyonce saying she was pregnant.

If any of you cared or even knew that the Miss USA pageant was this past Sunday. I know I personally don’t care about some girls prancing around and thinking their important due to their looks. Alyssa Campanella won the pageant and it is now said she is dating a C-list star. Torrance Coombs of the Tudors.

When he won he tweeted :
Pardon my french, but HOLY F–K! SHE WON!” he tweeted. “Congrats to Alyssa Campanella, Miss USA 2011. I am a puddle.”

I mean it is really no biggie. I mean it is great she won the pageant and it is great the two are together. I mean maybe he will get more attention now if he is spotted out with her.

Kobe Bryant gets a star on walk of fame

The Laker’s star is the first pro-athlete to ever get a star on the Walk of Fame.

“I feel like I’ve grown up in this city, and we’ve had a lot of ups and downs, but here we are—five championships, plenty of more to go, and I just feel extremely honored to be able to do this,” Bryant said during the ceremony for the event.

Jimmy Kimmel thought it would be funny to joke about the event and said, “It’s fitting that Kobe Bryant would have a place in Grauman’s Chinese Theatre because although he’s not an actor nor does he have any experience in theatrical arts he is—wait, why is this fitting?”

I completely agree, why is Kobe Bryant getting an award that only movie stars ever get? I mean what really makes him that deserving? Why has other sport stars in other sports ever get one?
