Discovery Channel Hostage
So some guy has just gone ape shit on the Discovery Channel HQ. If you have been watching the news lately you have seen that there is a hostage situation going on in the Maryland based building. It is reported that he is carrying a gun and possible explosives strapped to him. Most of the people were able to escape, but unfortunately he does have a few hostages. The Asian man is known as James Jay Lee.

Lee is this crazy environmentalist who has protested the Discovery Channel for years. I do too man, it is boring as shit. I just turn off the tv, does not mean I go and try to blow shit up. Supposedly Lee was arrested two years ago for a protest at the building. He has the craziest demands too.

He states that Discovery Channel does not really care about the planet. Lee wrote on his blog, “All programs on Discovery Health-TLC must stop encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants and the false heroics behind those actions. In those programs’ places, programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility must be pushed. All former pro-birth programs must now push in the direction of stopping human birth, not encouraging it.”

What a lunatic. I mean come on man, could you not think of anything better? Tell Discovery that you want to see more monkeys give the reach around in sex videos. Or maybe see the monkey fart in his hand and fall out of the tree. I mean come up with something better then some stupid bullshit of a reason to go blow a building up. I hope they get this guy and throw him in a damn pit with a bunch of horny badgers on lsd.

Crazy Hostage situation at the Discovery Channel

Just like most people, I get my news from Late Night shows like Jon Stewart and others. Anyways, Stewart continued on his coverage of the Ground Zero Mosgue debate. He decided to make fun of the Fox News casters as they said they were going to “follow the money” from mosgue builder Imam Rauf to terrorists. Unfortunately, the money leads right back to Fox News.

They kept on stating that there was a nameless man who has ties with Imam Rauf, and it turns out it is Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who is one of the largest shareholders of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corps.

Stewart then laughed as he showed a clip of the prince and Murdoch shaking hands. He stated that the Fox News casters ousted their largest investor. So according to Fox News we must stop watching Fox to cut off ties to terrorists.

In the end, I think people should be allowed to build places of worship. Especially when it is not at Ground Zero, it is blocks away. You have to up hold the constitution. Every military man and government official all swear in to uphold the constitution. If a government official states he does not believe in the constitution he should be fired from office.

Prop 8 overturned
Homosexual people and supporters are rejoicing today in California. After an official announcement from the Governator, Prop 8 has been overturned. Yesterday, a federal judge overturned the ruling and stating it was unconstitutional. It took away rights to equal protection and due process.

The judge, Vaughn Walker, stated that they listened to both sides of the argument and were both very passionate. He knows that his decision is controversial and hopes everyone respects it.

Celebrities in Hollywood were tweeting and showing support of the decision all over. Ellen chimed in on twitter and her wife, stated: “I am ecstatic that proposition 8 has been overturned in the state of California. This is an incredibly exciting and historical day and a big step towards equal rights for all.”

Even straight supporters had something to say, Kim Kardashian stated it is the best news she heard in a long time. It was about time California took the right direction.

Some of the other celebrities who sent out twitter messages in support of this law passing were: Christina Applegate, Paris Hilton, Kelly Osbourne, Ricky Martin, Kal Penn, Elizabeth Banks, Samantha Ronson, Seth Myers, Olivia Munn, and Zachary Quinto.

My favorite twitter was from Kal Penn saying: “Prop 8 ruled unconstitutional! Finally, pedophiles can marry their dogs. Just kidding. Props to CA for standing up for family values for all!”

Well I hope this stands, it still has a long battle. Prejudice people will keep trying to appeal it.

Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols
Keeping track of some of our local stars here in Wilmington, NC. Right now, the beautiful, Sophia Bush and her boyfriend, Austin Nichols have been heavily involved in the Gulf Oil Disaster. One Tree Hill co-stars have been on twitter trying to get people to donate. Bush also released herself on Facebook in efforts to reel people in. They are supporting Global Green mainly.

The two went on a tour at the beaches of Louisiana to see first hand the effects of the oil spill. Twittering about how it is a lot worse then what we all think. Austin Nichols posted these pics on his facebook.

The police told us we could not help with this VERY DANGEROUS clean up process. We needed Haz-Mat training. Do you see any Haz-Mat suits or respirators? Another interesting fact. They put ONE shovel full of sand in each bag and tied it off!!

The two’s twitter pages have been gaining a large amount of followers lately because of the BP oil spill and how they are trying to help. I have not heard of too many celebrities coming to the aid of this disaster, and it is great to see these two who have local ties helping out. If you would like to help and support these two you can donate at: Global Green

US Education problems
The US is already terrible with education and now it is becoming even worse. Our government seems to not care about the future of tomorrow, but just the present. Our future leaders are going to be as dumb as George W. Bush here soon. The reason I say this is that the budget is being cut for state governments. So instead of cutting stupid projects they are deciding to cut education budgets.

States are figuring they do not need to pay teachers more than 30K a year for several years and they will stay with the job. A lot of teachers are now figuring out, “Hey I can make more money being a waitress or a nanny.” They are then leaving their jobs because they are not being paid what they are worth. If the teachers are not leaving on their own, it is because they are being forced to by their administration. My girlfriend is a teacher in the special education department, and she received a letter stating they were going to cut the special education program. HOW DO YOU CUT THE SPECIAL ED PROGRAM!! Now all these kids with disabilities have no where to go? They may either have no education, or they may be put in with regular students. Then they may be bused a hour away to go to a school that does have a program.

Now I am seeing in the news that Kansas City is getting rid of 50% of their schools, just shutting them down. They will be laying off over 700 faculty members. Now you are going to have several students in smaller schools and like 80 students per one teacher. It is a fact for maximum knowledge there should be no more than 24 students per a teacher, but in reality we will say 30 students per a teacher.

Utah is currently trying to get school sytems to get rid of students senior years now. Lets throw students into college at a younger age instead of giving them the extra senior year they may need to get more development skills. If Utah does this, will other kids at states have a better chance getting into college because they in fact would have more education?

This country is in a deep mess and I hope something changes soon. Education is so important, one of the most important parts of our lives. So many people would not be where they are without teachers. Teachers deserve to be one of the highest paid positions out there. I can still name all my teachers I had from Elementary to High School. I can think of all the professors I had that made a huge impact on me too. They mold us into who we are and how our brain works. There would be no doctors, lawyers, politicians, etc. if it was not for some one to teach you what you know today.

Andrea-fay-friedman
If this is not a smack to the face, I do not know what is. Andrea Fay Friedman played a character on Family Guy who has Down Syndrome. It turns out Friedman has Down Syndrome and has been on several shows. Most people will remember her as Corky’s girl on Life Goes On. The character on the show said she was the daughter of “the former governor of Alaska.” If you would watch the entire show, that is the only reference to Sarah Palin in the entire show. It mostly poked fun at how people with disabilities are just as mean as people without disabilities. Of course Sarah Palin took major offense to this episode since she has a son with downs.

Palin went on a rant and said she was so upset that she had to have Bristol twitter about it for her. Bristol said, “People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confont, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them?” What I love though is that Friedman herself is joking around about it, and says that Palin needs to have a sense of humor. Here is a letter that Friedman wrote about the issue:

My name is Andrea Fay Friedman. I was born with Down syndrome. I played the role of Ellen on the “Extra Large Medium” episode of Family Guy that was broadcast on Valentine’s day. Although they gave me red hair on the show, I am really a blonde. I also wore a red wig for my role in ” Smudge” but I was a blonde in “Life Goes On”. I guess former Governor Palin does not have a sense of humor. I thought the line “I am the daughter of the former governor of Alaska” was very funny. I think the word is “sarcasm”.

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

Friedman later said in an interview stating that she was making fun of Sarah Palin, not her son. If you watch the episode you will see that too, that it is not making fun of her son, but Sarah Palin.

Bristol Palin-Levi Johnston
Bristol Palin is not taking anymore crap from Levi Johnston. She recently subpoenaed CNN, Playgirl, ET, Insider, Star Magazine, and the National Enquirer to see how much they have paid Levi. Bristol is trying to get $1688.42 a month from Levi for child support. Levi is stating that he is making around $101,000 a year.

I do not blame Bristol for asking for that money. The child should be taken care of, and here is my thoughts about all child care. The money needs to be going to the child, not the parent. We all know that the child is going to be fine with or without Levi’s help or money. The Palin’s are very well off, but Levi should be a man and pay the money. $1688.42 a month comes out to be $20261.04 a year, which is a hell of a good deal for a baby. That baby is making more money than I was till I graduated college. 20 grand on your child is not a bad amount to pay out of your 101k year money. That still gives you about 80K, then take off about 40% off from taxes..lol.

Be a man and pay up. Either be in the kids life and take care of him, or pay some one else too.

Cough up the money Levi Johnston

This clip right here is what Sarah Palin is in a redneck uproar about. Seth MacFarlane decided to do a skit that features Chris Griffin dating a girl with down syndrome, and Stewie is performing a dance scene called “Down Syndrome Girl.” The main part that has Bristol and Sarah Palin so upset is the small clip that has Chris asking the girl what her parents do for a living. In response, the girl states that her dad is an accountant and her mother is the former governor of Alaska.

Bristol wrote this on her mom’s facebook page:

“When you’re the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin,” the 19-year-old wrote. “My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent.

“People with special needs face challenges that many of us will never confront, and yet they are some of the kindest and most loving people you’ll ever meet. Their lives are difficult enough as it is, so why would anyone want to make their lives more difficult by mocking them?

“As a culture, shouldn’t we be more compassionate to innocent people— especially those who are less fortunate? Shouldn’t we be willing to say that some things just are not funny? Are there any limits to what some people will do or say in regards to my little brother or others in the special needs community? If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed. All they proved is that they’re heartless jerks.”

Yes, it is terrible that Family Guy made fun of down syndrome people. It is also terrible that they made fun of fat people, Lindsay Lohan, Jews, God, etc. I mean come on, all is fair game. Just like it is fair game on SNL and other funny comedy shows. It is okay for Rush Limbaugh to say “retard,” but Seth MacFarlane cannot have a down syndrome story.
