My thoughts on State of Union

I will admit, I did not get to watch much of the State of the Union, but I read about it all. I read about Obama’s pointers he had for this country and thought they were well meaning. Culture Slant normally doesn’t go into politics on the site, but it is a site about culture and politics is a part of that.

First off my thoughts about our current affairs. I think America personally needs to completely reform. Our founders never wanted it the way we have it now and neither parties seem to care. On one side you have the Dems who believe the way to a well balanced budget is to help out so much that it spends more money and not make any cuts to unnecessary programs. On the other side you have the Republicans who are the rich and have the mentality of, “I already have mine,” mentality.

In the Presidents Address he stated how we need to reform the tax code, and I true heartedly agree. Like Warren Buffett says, there is no reason that a billionaire should only be paying 0 to 15% of their total income to taxes while a person like me who makes little over 40k a year has to pay 25 to 30% of my entire income. Why should the poor be paying more of their income. I have a four year degree, I work in the job that I majored in. The world pays too low of wages for people like me to really live on anymore. I think we need to take a hard look in the mirror and ask ourselves is it really fair to our country and fellow Americans that we let people get away with it.

Rich people have no right to ever talk about people on welfare anymore in my opinion. The thing you hear all the time is, “Why should I be paying for them, they just abuse the system.” Here is my response now, “Why should I be paying more taxes, while you abuse the system?” These rich assholes are no better than the people on welfare who abuse the system. They abuse the tax system, so the poor abuse the welfare system.

Next up is Obama’s thoughts on education. I completely agree that colleges should be affordable to everyone. It is now getting to the point that it is only affordable to families who make roughly 100k or more a year. What fairness is that? My family wouldn’t of been able to support me, what I did, I joined the military to help out with my college. You know what he military is doing, paying late on my current school loans and making me pay them. What kind of system is that? Good way to support your military.

In all Obama will probably win the election again. The GOP’s candidates are so out there that they have no connection with most of the world. You have Romney who makes my total years salary two days work and hides his money and abuses the tax system. You have Gingrich who fucks about anything that walks in front of him. Then you have all these religious nutbags out there who believe that our country should be ruled strictly by a corrupt belief system.

God this country is so fucked in the head.

Bill Maher vs Elizabeth Hasselbeck Round 2

Bill Maher was a guest today on The View, a show with a bunch of bickering ladies and Whoopi. Maher came on to promote his new book and it is no secret that he picks on heavy Republican, Elizabeth Hasselbeck. Maher poked fun of Hasselbeck on his show in regards to the sexual assault of CBS correspondent, Lara Logan.

“New rule: now that Hosni Mubarak has released Lara Logan, he must put her intrepid hotness on a plane immediately. In exchange, we will send Elisabeth Hasselbeck,” he joked.

This was nine months ago, and she still cannot get over it. Being the immature snobby bitch she is, she complained about how she doesn’t have a sense of humor and did not like the joke. She doesn’t understand that she is a public figure and people can make fun of her. Well girlie, it is easy to make fun of you when you are dumb as shit.

Maher tried to explain to Hasselbeck that he is a comedian and that he does jokes, but she could not understand that.

“We do a comedy show for an audience that’s perhaps different than your audience,” he said. “You are a public figure. It was not aimed at you personally, but when you are a public figure, you are out there and your fodder for comedians to make comments on.”

Even Joy Behar backed Bill Maher up. Maher then got frustrated and said he wouldn’t of done the joke again if he knew she would complain during the entire segment.

The funny part was when Hasselbeck stated she feels smarter sitting besides Maher. Unfortunately, Maher’s education surpasses hers and so does his vocab and understanding of government. I think Maher handled this situation really well, and Hasselbeck looked like a dumb little whiny kid. She sets women back and shouldn’t even be on that show.

Redneck politician gets arrested for being drunk with a gun

I knew this would eventually happen. When I heard about some redneck , a government official, t was pushing for a law to allow people to carry guns into bars just blew my mind. I just could not imagine the problems that this was going to cause. Tennessee legislator, Curry Todd, pushed for a law that stated people can carry guns into bars as long as they were not drinking.

It turns out this idiot legislator gets arrested for breaking his own law. Todd was arrested in Nashville driving under the influence and was in possession of a hand gun. I guess some people are above the law? To make matters worse, he doesn’t even have a permit.

Yes people, this is what you are supporting. No room for your redneck politicians.

So what do we have here? It turns out Jean Claude Van Damme and Hilary Swank may be bad guys. No, I am not talking about a new film with the two, but them actually being evil-doers. They appeared to wish Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechnya’s president, a happy birthday. The were invited to his birthday and came to it. What makes Kadyrov so bad, he is one of the world’s most notorious human rights violators.

US has documents of Kadyrov being involved in arsons, abductions and torturing of people. Russia appointed Kadyrov and since then he has been involved in several deaths and tortures of people fighting for freedom.

Van Damme was invited to show off his moves. Swank turned around and said, “Really, truly, for me this was a great honor to learn more about you and your country and what you’re building, Happy birthday, Mr. President.” It makes you wonder if these two were paid for this? If so, will they give the money back for supporting such a bad man? Why would they not do their research before going to this guys party? Or are they really supporters?

Shakira, Kevin Costner, and Eva Mendez were also invited, but their pr people were smart enough to turn it down.

Interesting news to me, I was just shocked that there is a country called Chechnya, how do you pronounce that? I will have to look at a map and see where it is at, guessing it used to be a Soviet country.

Sean Penn helps in release of US Captives in Iran

The big talk is about the hikers who were arrested (kidnapped) by the Iranian government for crossing an invisible line they call a border. Well it turns out Sean Penn had some help on the release of those prisoners after being held captive for two years. Penn kept on talking to Hugo Chavez to help out in discussions to Iran’s crazy leader.

Penn was very committed to the case…he flew to Caracas several months ago to raise it with Chavez and he kept on it,” a source told Reuters.

Government had to shell out million dollars for the release of Josh Fattal and Shane Bauer.

Now don’t give all credit to Penn and Chavez, as it was more of Bill Clinton’s direct impact that helped out in the release.

Sarah Palin offered million dollars to take lie detector test

A dare that most people would like to see Sarah Palin take is just to tell the truth. Of course Republican’s would hate this if Palin was ever to speak the truth. In a recent book by Joe McGinniss, Palin is accused of cheating on her husband with his ex-business partner. She completely denies this so the website, AshleyMadison.com is offering her a million dollars to take a lie detector test.

“We will hire a certified polygraph examiner to administer a lie detector test to both yourself and Todd. He will be restricted to asking you questions solely related to the allegations,” the letter states.

“If both of you complete and pass the polygraph test, Ashleymadison.com will issue you a check in The amount of $1,000,000.”

I would love for them to take it, but we do know they have a lot to hide in that family.

Levi Johnston promotes book

Levi Johnston recently wrote a tell-all about the Palin family. Levi had the chance to promote his book on Wendy Williams show yesterday. He did a good job during his interview, and had Roseanne Barr cracking jokes while talking.

During the interview he discusses how Bristol was jealous of her mom being pregnant. Also that the first time they had sex was not the time Bristol got pregnant, and he never got her drunk and took advantage of her. He claims Bristol and him had sex several times before she ever got pregnant and skinny dipped in the Palin jacuzzi.

He state the first engagement was fake, but he second was real. Bristol broke it off with him over a rumor of a girl he got pregnant even though he hasn’t seen her in five years. Although in the book he admits sleep with this girl in 2010, not 2006. He did sleep with her, but didn’t get her pregnant.

I believe most of the stuff Levi says. I am sure some is out of context, but I am sure the Palin’s are nothing but liars.

Soldier tells father he is gay on camera

Today the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell rule was thrown out and gays are allowed to be openly in the military. People have been talking about it all over the internet and praising the Obama administration for their success. Now a soldier has decided to come out on the phone and record it to put it on Youtube. He called his father and told him that he was gay. It seems that his family took it very well, and the soldier is saying he is getting great support from his other soldiers.

I think this is amazing. I feel that any rights that gays get are making our country a better place. People should be raised on acceptance and love, instead of prejudice and hate.
