Valentine’s Day Review

valentines-day
This past Valentine’s Day, I spent time with my loved one just like many others do on this Hallmark created day. We started our Vday by exchanging gifts, then going out to a wonderful dinner, and ending it with the movie Valentine’s Day. Of course, I did not want to see it, or even give it a chance. A movie named after a day made just for women, is a movie just for women. I heard so many bad rumors about the film, and how terrible a film would have to be to have that many good actors in it, for such a low budget. Well, after I heard some people say it was good, I felt a little bit better. I mean if it was my choice of a movie for Valentine’s Day weekend, it would of been Wolfman. I know, very romantic. You have to think though there is action and romance in it. It can bring the female and male audience. While Valentine’s Day only brings the female audience.

Well, here we are. At the movie theatre, i’m sitting down and the Carmike theatre is completely filthy. The film is about several people who are falling into or out of love on Valentine’s Day. Reed, played by Ashton Kutcher, starts his day off with the beautiful Jessica Alba, by proposing to her. The story then intertwines many other couples who are all connected through out that day. I enjoy films that are like this, especially mysteries. I will give a kudos to the writers of this film, who did make the film interesting enough by seeing who is connected to who and how. The star power in this movie included Jamie Foxx, Kathy Bates, Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, and much much more. For the young tweens, it even included Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner.

The film was over two hours long, which made it even more dreadful. I know the story could of been shorten, drastically. The film did hold my attention, and I know that every female enjoyed it. Besides the length of the movie I only had a few bad things to really say about the film. First being, Taylor Swift needs to stay a singer. She was a terrible actress, and I believe she could lose fans if she continues. Second, just knowing that Julia Roberts was paid 500,000 a minute for that film makes me sick. She is in it for six minutes, and barely has any lines. She also gets 3% of the profit. That girl has a hell of an agent, because her star power is not that great any more if you ask me. I have not enjoyed any of her films since Erin Brockevich and I can barely even say that.

On another note, women, please do not make your men see films like this in theater. A movie theater costs so much money now these days, and the big reason you go is for the experience. Films that have loud sounds or amazing 3D graphics are worth it. You pay all that money for the surround sound and the amazing screen. You do not need surround sound for romance or dramas. The Wolfman would of been worth seeing because it is an action, it could be terrible all I know, but you can get my drift. Romance films are better watched on the couch snuggling together instead of sitting uncomfortably in chairs.
