This week at the Consumers Electronics Show in Las Vegas, some providers will be giving sneak peaks into their new 3D tv channels. The channels are expected to be released later this year. DirectTv and Sony are the two who are releasing their 3D channels, at the annual tech show. Neither of the channels have a specific launch date yet.

DirectTV’s model is all HD/3D network, which will launch with a new satellite in March. All of their programming will be in 3D, movies, sports, etc. Sony on the other hand will launch in 2011. This will have sports, and other entertainment including the Discovery Channel. Imagine a Lion jumping out at you, or even watch all those crazy animal sex videos in 3D. With this announcement, ESPN has now said they will release a 3D network, showing live sports in 3D in June. Now all the women can see the sweaty men up and close while the men enjoy a possible football coming out of the screen.

The problem with all of this is that we will have 3D channels, but no company has mentioned of 3D tv’s capable of what movie theater screen can produce. Are people going to want to wear those weird green(blue) and red glasses? The clear glasses at the theaters are so much nicer for 3D. The color versions do not seem as high-quality. I’ll be looking forward to hearing all the tech news at CES this week.
